Lauren and her fixator were due for a check up with Dr. Standard so we made it a girls trip to Baltimore for Lauren, Mommy, and Auntie Robin.
Lauren's appointment consisted of new x-rays and a fixator inspection by Dr. Standard. He told us that Lauren's x-rays show a straightened tibia and good bone growth, in fact she has grown as much bone in the past 7 weeks as some kids do in 12 weeks. We were so happy to discover that bone growing is one of Lauren's talents! We gained approximately 1.3 cm in tibial length with the "mini-lengthening". Judging by Lauren's progress so far, Dr. Standard thinks she'll be ready to have her fixator off in 4 weeks or so.

We didn't feel like hitting the road home just yet so we took a day trip to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Lauren was just mesmerized! She's such an independent girl and usually doesn't like riding for too long...but not at the museum! She rode in her wagon the whole time, her eyes wide, just taking everything in. One exhibit had all three of us mesmerized...the Hope Diamond!
