Lauren led Nana around the National Aquarium and downtown Baltimore on the last day before her cast was removed. Nothing slows these girls down! 
Lauren got a little t.l.c. from Nana at her cast removal appointment, complete with chicken nuggets and a favorite video. We were expecting Lauren to jump for joy or run around when her cast came off, but instead she was tearful and complained of her foot hurting. Dr. Standard reassured us that this was normal and that she probably wouldn't feel like walking for a few days. He said her ankle and leg look great and he wants to see her in three months for "standing x-rays" which will give him more accurate measurements to use in determining Lauren's future treatment needs.
Grandpa Dan put us up in a hotel for our stay, but if you ask Lauren she'd tell you we stayed at a "castle". Whichever, it was a great place to take a bath after not being able to take one for over a month. 
We spent a day visiting downtown D.C. and Lauren was content to tour by stroller. It was a sunny and unseasonably warm day for walking around and taking in the sights. The Spitfire was one of the many aircraft we saw at the Museum of Air and Space. We also stopped in at the National Archives building to see the Declaration of Independence. Our visit to the Lincoln Memorial two days prior was a bit rainy, so with the beautiful weather at hand we decided to stop and see the the Jefferson Memorial too. It was wonderful day in Washington, D.C.!
