Boo-Boo Arm

As you may have noticed in her recent pictures, Lauren has been sporting a little pink cast on her right arm. One Saturday afternoon, about three and a half weeks ago, she attempted to climb out of her crib and ended up landing hands first (and then head) on her wood bedroom floor. I'll tell the story as Lauren has been telling everyone who'll listen:

"I climb on my bed...I fall down on the floor...I got boo-boo arm and hurt my head...I cried...Daddy come and pick me up..."

That led to an emergency room visit and the good news was that Lauren's head was okay. The bad news was that Lauren's wrist took the brunt of the impact and she had a buckle fracture in her wrist, a common type of fracture when children put their hands out in front of them to stop their fall. Some friends suggested that a waterproof cast may be an option for Lauren and sure enough it was! What a relief it was for us that Lauren would still be able to go about her normal summer activities, especially swimming. The cast came off this morning after the doctor took x-rays and said her wrist was completely healed.
